Elijah's death date shown June 16, 1850 in GGF p 545-6-7,("Started for California March 22 and died June 16 when I was four years old. One brother born August 4 after he died." submitted by Mrs. Nancy Summers, daughter of John Elijah. He died near Black Hills, SD on the way to California during the California "Gold Rush". In religion he was a Methodist, Rachel may have been Catholic as Elijah Francis was baptized in the Catholic Church. Rachel was buried in the family cemetery on her sons farm at Anthonies Mill, Washington County, Missouri. There are no markers in the cemetery.
Rachel Ella Litton Greenlee: Mary Rachel "Mamie" Greenlee Record told me (Pearl Greenlee Forguson 1985, when she was 94 years old) and also wrote Rachel's name on the back of her picture as "Mary Rachel Harrison". She remembered "Uncle Bill"I have chosen to use the records rather than the memory of an elderly aunt who was born ten years after her grandmother's death.
Mary Rachel "Mamie Greenlee Record also told me Elijah's name was John Elijah, so far I have not found any record of "John Elijah Greenlee".
