| Soc Sec: Greenlee, James b 1888-08-23, d 1966-06 #332-20-0494 James Elmer Greenlee: his family called him Elmer, after moving to Granite City most people called him "Jim". Occupation: farmer, in early life he worked at American Car Foundry in Madison, IL, trucker, auto mechanic and carpenter. He only completed the second grade and Stella only attended school 20 days, yet they both could write and read very well. He was very capable of figuring materials and angles in carpenter work. Religion: James was raised a Catholic, but became Pentecostal in his adult life. The family moved several times back and forth from Missouri to Illinois, finally settling in Granite City, Illinois in 1928, where they remained the rest of their lives. James died of myocardial infarction in Christian Welfare Hospital in East St Louis, Illinois. Stella died in St Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City, Illinois. James and Stella were interred in St Johns Cemetery in Granite City, Illinois. Hazel ( born on what was known as the Taylor Place near the Elmwood Methodist Church, lived only nine days), Frederick (delivered by Dr Everett, lived only two months and twelve days), David and Helen (born on what was known as the Andrew Huff Place. Helen was stillborn, David lived only two months and ten days), Murl( died at home, 2909 Marshall Avenue, Granite City), Earl and Burl (Burl died in De Soto, Missouri just before the last move to Granite City, only two days old, Earl died in the Campbell house 2944 Marshall Avenue. Granite City, Illinois, eight months and eight days old). All were interred in Prospect Cemetery, Prospect, Franklin County, Missouri, seven small graves all in a row in one lot. | |
